Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a statue and an action figure?
A statue is a fixed display piece, usually cast in polystone or resin, with no moving parts and often a sculpted base. An action figure has articulated joints and can be posed, and is usually made of PVC or other plastics. Collector statues are typically larger, heavier and produced in smaller limited editions.
What is polystone?
Polystone is a resin mixed with powdered stone, commonly used by makers such as Sideshow and Iron Studios for collector statues. It holds fine sculpted detail and gives the piece a solid weight, but it is brittle and can chip or break if dropped. Statues should be moved in their original foam packaging.
Why does the original box matter for a collector statue?
Collector statues are fragile and usually come in fitted foam inserts designed to protect each part in transit. The box also shows the edition number and maker details. A statue with its complete original packaging is easier to move safely and is generally preferred by collectors over one without.
