- Nomex: the fire-resistant material used for race suits and undershirts.
- Race-used or team-issued: used by the team, as opposed to merchandise.
What to check before buying
- Whether the item is listed as original or replica, and any documentation in the photos, such as a team letter or certificate.
- The size and weight of tyres and car parts, which are heavy and bulky.
- For helmets, the display stand, visor and box, and any marks on the paint.

What is a replica F1 helmet?
A replica helmet is a collector's helmet painted in a driver's design, such as Ayrton Senna's yellow helmet. Makers like Bell produce licensed replicas at full size or 1:2 scale for display. A replica is not the helmet the driver wore in a race and is not intended for use on track. Race-worn helmets are far rarer.
What is Nomex?
Nomex is a flame-resistant aramid fibre made by DuPont. It is used for Formula 1 and other motorsport race suits, gloves, balaclavas and undershirts to protect drivers from fire. Nomex clothing is often collected as memorabilia, either as team-issued or race-used garments, or as licensed replicas made in a driver's name.
Are Formula 1 tyres and car parts real?
Many are genuine components, such as Pirelli tyres on OZ or BBS wheels, and front wing end plates that were used or supplied to a team, then released for sale. Each listing states whether an item is original or a replica. Tyres and parts are large and heavy, so check the dimensions before buying.
