Frequently asked questions

What is a certificate of authenticity for a signed sports item?

A certificate of authenticity (COA) is a document stating that a signature is genuine. Its value depends entirely on who issued it. Certificates from independent authentication companies such as JSA, PSA/DNA or Beckett carry a number that can be looked up on their websites. A certificate from an unknown source provides much less assurance.

What is a custom jersey?

A custom jersey is a shirt made in a team's style, often with a player's name and number, but not officially produced or issued by the team or league. They are commonly used for autograph signings and framed displays. The value of a signed custom jersey rests on the signature rather than the shirt itself.

How should I display a signed boxing glove or basketball?

Keep it in a UV-protective acrylic case, away from direct sunlight, which fades ink quickly. Avoid handling the signed area, as skin oils can smudge or lift the signature. Leather gloves and balls also benefit from a stable room temperature and moderate humidity, to prevent drying or cracking.
